ERR 12: ABATTOIR: Audrey Chen (cello & voice), Robert van Heumen (laptop & controllers)
Rooted in free improvisation and experimental electronics, they perform music where Chen’s intense vocals and intricate cello playing are sampled, transformed and ripped apart by Van Heumen’s vigorous laptop actions. Together, they are able to create a deeply sensitive communication infused with a boundless feeling of release and letting go. “It was a pleasure to see Chen work hard to match van Heumen’s often brutal digital transformations of her sound. […] he took Chen’s keening voice and filtered it in such a way that, for a moment, it seemed that George Martin, the revered Beatles producer, had entered the room.”

Gianni Lenoci: piano solo
On January 29, 2009 our good friend and genius Evil Rabbit designer Lysander Lecoultre died suddenly and unexpectedly. It was an incredible blow to us. Lysander was a man of great spirit and many talents whom we loved and respected. Not only was he a great designer but also a gifted musician. He will be in our hearts and minds forever. We will honour him by releasing his last duo recordings with pianist Albert van Veenendaal on Evil Rabbit Records. His work for ERR was taken over by his friends and collegues with Strangelove Creatives, who will continue in his spirit. We are grateful to everything Lysander gave us as a friend and as a fellow artist. What a great guy!
